Woke up to a cold but sunny day. It’s currently -2C and doesn’t look likely to climb in temperature.

Just a couple of nature shots

We replaced the greenhouse with an arbour.

Pond Plants

Yesterday I received some marginals and oxygenators through the mail. I’m keeping the marginals in a very shallow part through the winter as they’re young and tender.

The marginals are as follows:

Iris versicolour (northern blue flag)

Iris pseudacorus (yellow flag iris)

Veronica Becca bunga (brooklime)

Lobelia vedrariensis (purple lobelia)

Myosotis scorpoides (water forget me not)

Oenanthe japonica flamingo (variegated water dropwort)

Carex gramineous ogon

Geum rivale (water avens)

And the oxygenators are elodea crispa.

I haven’t blogged for over three and a half years. Three months since my last post I had a massive pulmonary embolism followed by chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. After an 8 hour operation it became much more manageable, but unfortunately for a couple of years the back garden was ignored and I decided not to bother with the vegetable beds – it was impossible at the time to tend to with my heath condition.

Now it’s 2 years since my operation and my condition is mild. A flower border (trashed by a fence blowing down last year) has replaced the veg patch, and we have a new addition – a pond, newly dug.

Above, the start of the new pond.
